Sunday Notes: Why I Love NBC’s “The Voice”

The Voice2

I am a huge fan of NBC’s “The Voice”. ( I may have already hit “Super Fan” status, but I’m unsure of the criteria). Like so many other viewers, the Voice captures my attention in an indescribable (and addictive ) way.

There is so much untapped talent and unbridled hope that lives within the show — that I cannot help but take a seat and watch. In my mind, each performance is a melodic ode to dreams and destiny. Yet, underlying those dreams are the emotional risks that performers must take to grab their chance to reveal what they have to offer.

Of course, we all aren’t destined to become accomplished vocalists  — but our respective gifts can become every bit as powerful. But, just like these artists we have to take certain risks. We have to bolster our courage, persevere and take that step onto the stage.

Whether you are new to the world of work, changing paths, seeking challenge or planning a re-entrance — take that step. Listen to your inner voice. Forge that new connection. Raise your hand for that “stretch” assignment or press the “publish” button.

Whatever it takes.

There is only one way to find out if the path might be the right one — and it starts with that first hopeful step.
